"This light is so wonderful! I ordered one pendant light from Dutton and the same kind of light from another company (much cheaper but looked the same online). My goal was to compare the two products before making a final purchase of three lights in total. I got this globe light fixture out of the box and simply placed it over a lightbulb (from a table lamp). The inner glow, the reflecting light from the surroundings - it was far superior than the other company. Installing the light was easy as well. The only issue we have is that it does not sit completely flush with the ceiling, no matter what we do, but it's just very small and not too noticable... maybe a couple of millimeters from the ceiling. But that may our installation process - not the light fixture. Make sure to get the shipping insurance. One light came shattered in the box and the customer service team at Dutton quickly replaced it, no problem."

- Is the 28" hanging height from the ceiling to the bottom/base of the globe? Is there a way to get a shorter rod? Thank you.
- Yes, the 28" hanging height is the measurement from the ceiling to the bottom of the globe. In the listing photo, the thick portion of the rod is 12" long. This rod can be substituted with a 2", 4", or 6" rod, or any combination of those rods, to decrease hanging height. For example, substituting a 6" rod in place of the 12" would remove 6" of height and decrease the hanging height from 28" to 22". If you'd like a shorter rod substituted, please just make a note on the order on the checkout page.
